The Hughes Springs Mustangs
varsity football team
seemed down and out when
they lost their fifth consecutive
game of the 2011 season
in New Boston on Sept.
23. The embarrassing 55-6
loss was an eye opener for
the entire program.
Hughes Springs would go
on to dominate all of their
next 15 regular season
games, winning out in 2011
en route to a close 21-13 loss
to Mildred in the second
round of the 2011 playoffs.
