Updates on a ground storage tank to be installed in Daingerfield were presented at the Feb. 25 board of trustees meeting of the Northeast Texas Municipal Water District. General Manager Walt Sears presented the report to the trustees.
“KSA Engineers has been working on the design of the tank that we are going to build in Daingerfield,” Mr. Sears said. “The report has the preliminary drawings and plans for a 750,000 gallon concrete tank that would be constructed on the property of the district near the present 500,000 gallon ground storage tank. It is anticipated that the final plans would be completed by May and that bids and proposals would be reviewed most likely during the summer.”
The board received updates from the general manager on bills that have been filed so far related to water in the Texas Legislature.
“The most significant bill is the one that proposes to use as much as $2 billion from the Rainy Day Fund for water infrastructure across the state,” Mr. Sears said. “The $2 billion bill has in it that as much as 10 percent would be assigned to rural Texas as needed. That 10 percent means that at least $200 million should be available to help small towns and rural providers who provide the pipes and infrastructure that they need to continue to serve rural areas. The amount the district or other providers in our area will receive has not been decided.”
