A Hughes Springs’ man turned himself in to police Feb. 26 on various charges.
“Mario Hector Reyes Jr., 30, who has a felony warrant out for aggravated assault, had fled from Officer Tony Harrison on foot,” Hughes Springs Police Chief Randy Kennedy said. “Mr. Reyes ran into a wooded area and was able to elude the officer. He had been riding in a vehicle when Officer Harrison made a traffic stop, and he jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot.”
Mr. Reyes turned himself in to Chief Kennedy.
“He is charged with aggravated assault bodily injury which is a Felony 2 punishable by up to 20 years in prison,” Chief Kennedy said. “He was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for evading arrest. The game warden issued that charge that carries up to one year in jail. He also had a theft warrant out of Rusk County that is a state jail felony, a burglary of a building charge out of Upshur County, which is a state jai felony, along with traffic offenses.
“Mr. Reyes was taken to the Cass County Jail.”
