Tigers defeat the Lions and Bulldogs, lose close game to the Dragons

Daingerfield scored 5 runs in their half of the ninth inning Friday evening and held off a late New Boston rally to defeat the Lions 13-10.
Malik Higgins doubled in the top of the seventh, and Shawn Hooks singled in Higgins to tie the score at 8 all to send the game into extra innings. The leading hitters for the Tigers were Hooks, who was 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI’s and 2 runs scored, Ruben Mims, who was 2-for-4 with a double, 1 RBI and 3 runs scored and Josh Terry, who was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored. Stone Kelley was 1-for-1 with a 2 run home run and was hit by a pitch 4 times, Kelley had a RBI and 1 run scored. Higgins, Colton Gibbs and Troy Stuard each contributed one hit for Daingerfield.
Kelley started the game for the Tigers and went five innings and struck out four batters. Higgins pitched three innings for Daingerfield and got the win for the Tigers. Terry came in to close the game out in the ninth inning, retiring the three batters he faced, striking out two of them.
It took an extra frame for Redwater to edge out Daingerfield March 12 by the score of 6-5. Daingerfield took a brief 4 to 3 lead over the Dragons in the sixth inning on Kelley’s 3-run home run.
Leading hitters for Daingerfield were Mims with a solo-home run and a single; Keaton Key added two hits; Stuard and Cameron Precise each contributed a hit, and Kelley had a 3-run homer also.
Terry pitched six innings, striking out four batters before giving over to Kelley who pitched the final two innings for the Tigers.
The Tigers swept a weekend series against the Jefferson Bulldogs March 8 and 9.
The Tigers exploded for 8 runs in the third inning en route to a 17-9 victory over Jefferson. Daingerfield pounded out 12 hits on the night.
The leading hitters for Daingerfield were Terry who had three hits, 3 runs and 4 RBI’s, Hooks, who had three hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI’s, Mims, who had two doubles, 2 runs and 2 RBI’s, and Precise had a double and 5 RBI’s.
Higgins was the winning pitcher for Daingerfield, and Kelley fanned five Jefferson batters in three innings to get the save.
Jefferson hosted Daingerfield the next afternoon, and the Tigers were victorious with a score of 7-6.
Hooks was the leading hitter in that game; he was 3-for-4 with a triple, double, 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored. Terry was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s, and Kelley chipped in a double. Gibbs and Key each had a hit each for the Tigers. Gibbs was the starting pitcher for Daingerfield, going three innings while striking out five Bulldog batters.
Precise got the win for the Tigers, pitching three innings while striking out three batters. Terry retired the side in the seventh inning to get the save.
Daingerfield hosted Hughes Springs Tuesday at 7 p.m.
