Lady Colts finish in fourth
The Hughes Springs Lady Colts attended the Hughes Springs District Track Meet on April 4. The seventh grade team finished fourth out of 10 and the eighth grade team finished sixth out of 10.
“This track season was a great one for the girls, and the athletic department is very proud of them,” said Coach Chris Edwards.
In relays, the seventh graders captured fifth in the 4X100, fifth in the 4X800, and fourth in the 4X400. Those relay teams consisted of Peyton Blythe, Aliyah Crowder, Tamara Jones, Kennedi Northam, Charlie Mae Reeves, Jaley Wallace, Cypress Wright, MyKaila Fahrney, and Kailey Farmer. Cypress Wright received fifth in the 800-meter run, Jaley Wallace received second in the 300 meter hurdles, Aliyah Crowder got fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash, Kailey Farmer received sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, Haylee Wilson got sixth in the 3200, Tamara Jones got second in the triple jump, Kensley Echols received first in the shot put, and Peyton Blythe received fourth in the 400-meter dash, first in the long jump, and first in the triple jump.
The eighth grade relay teams got sixth in the 4X100, and fifth in 4X400. The relay teams included of Kali Calcote, Aaron Orrill, Dynasti King, Courtney Gilmore, and Susan Reynolds. Brooke Kirkpatrick got fifth in the 2400 and 1600, Karlye Crane received sixth in the 800-meter run and third in the 400-meter dash, Alexis Dilbeck received fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, Arron Orrill received third in the 200-meter dash, and Dynasti King received third in the 100 meter dash, first in the 200-meter dash, and sixth in the long jump.
The seventh grade team ended with 81 total points and the eighth grade 42 total points.
“We are extremely proud of these groups of athletes and their success all year long,” Coach Edwards said. “We are looking forward to an even better year next year.”
