Lady Mustangs secure playoff berth

The Hughes Springs Lady Mustang softball team secured a playoff berth on April 16, with a 5-1 win over Redwater.  The win put the Lady Mustangs at 10-3 in District and assured them of a playoff berth.  Seeding has not yet been decided as to who they play in the playoffs.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Kaitlyn Morris’s 3-4 2 RBI performance along with Destiny Gonzales 2-4, Catie Wertz 2-3, Becca Crossland 1-2, and Breanne Gunn’s 1-4 monster home run to round out the scoring.
Kaitlyn Morris got the win in the circle for the Lady Mustangs with a complete game performance. Morris held the Lady Dragons to five hits and the solo run coming in the fourth. She also added six strikeouts to her Lady Mustang high of 151 throughout the season.
The Lady Mustangs closed the regular season out on Saturday, at home against New Boston.
