Gibbs Services for Jerry W. Gibbs, 72, will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Mr. Gibbs was born on May 26, 1941, in Naples, to Orb and Edna Gibbs and was the youngest of five children. He died July 20 in Longview. He graduated from Paul H. Pewitt High School and was a veteran of both United States Air Force and the East Texas oil industry. Mr. Gibbswas a loving husband to Sandra and the proud father of three children as well as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orb and Edna Gibbs; his brothers, Boyd Gibbs and Troy Gibbs; a sister, Opal Vissering; a nephew, Hugh Gibbs. Those left to cherish his memory and laugh out loud are his wife of 49 years and 11 months, Sandra; his son, Jeffrey Wayne Gibbs of White Oak; a daughter, Renee Bradshaw of Longview; his youngest son, Steven Clarence Gibbs of New York City; grandchildren Garrett Bradshaw, Sarah Bradshaw, Makenna Gibbs, and Jacob Gibbs; his favorite son-in-law and daughter-in-law Darin Bradshaw of Longview, and Wendi Gibbs of White Oak; his sister Peggy Barber of Columbia, Miss; his loving father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Ellen Barnes of Longview; a sister-in-law, Maureen Gibbs of Fort Worth, and a brother-in-law Wes Vissering of Naples. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends; and his cat, Chloe, also of Longview.
