A narrow bridge crossing Bruton’s Creek on Morris County Road 4114 east of Daingerfield will be replaced this year, according to plans approved by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be replacing the bridge crossing Brutons Creek with a multiple box culvert that will handle all legal loads of traffic,” said Roger Ledbetter, area engineer for TxDOT in Mount Pleasant. “The current roadway is 14 feet wide across the bridge and we will be widening it to 24 feet across the new structure so vehicles will easily be able to pass each other.”
Residents along the county road will need to find an alternate route around the construction site since the roadway will be closed to through-traffic while the work is being done..
East Texas Bridge Inc. of Longview was awarded the contract for the project with a low bid of $215,237.
Work on the project should begin in September of this year and take about three months to complete, Mr. Ledbetter said.
