Services for Nadine Mae Cummings Maupin, 87, of Fort Worth, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church at 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive in Mansfield, officiated by Rebecca M. DeVee.
After a long and happy life, Mrs. Maupin succumbed to the affects of age and metastic squamous cell carcinoma on Aug. 9.
She was born on May 9, 1926, in Britton, Okla. to Cecil and Opal Cummings. She attended Lubbock High School where she graduated in 1944. After high school she worked for Dalby’s shipping as a billing clerk. In January of 1945 she married Herschel Maupin.
In Daingerfield, Mrs. Maupin worked alongside her husband as the owners of Maupin’s Tire and Automotive until they sold their business and retired in 1988. Dangerfield was where Nadine and Herschel raised their two children Becky and Greg. Mrs. Maupin was a long-term member of the Churches of Christ located in Artesia, Leveland, Daingerfield, and Arlington. She spent her years at the churches volunteering and was a Cradle Roll teacher for over 20 years. Although she had many jobs throughout her life, her favorite job title was grandma.
Mrs. Maupin is preceded in death by Cecil, Opal, and Sissy Cummings; her husband, Herschel Maupin and twins, Randal and Vandal Maupin.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law, Kevin DaVee and son, Gregory Maupin. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Kathryn DaVee Combs, Kristina DaVee Rosenthal, Karoline DaVee, Megan Maupin and Madison Maupin. In 2012, Kathryn and Cody Combs blessed Mrs. Maupin with a great-grandson, Charles Henry Combs, who Gigi lovingly called Charlie-boy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Maupin’s name to Wesley Mission Center in Mansfield or the charity of your choice.
