Lady Tigers win silver bracket at Mount Pleasant Tourney

The Daingerfield Lady Tigers volleyball team bounced back from a season opening loss to win the silver bracket at the Mount Pleasant Tournament this weekend.
The Lady Tigers opened the regular season with a home loss Tuesday as they fell in five games to visiting Jefferson, 18-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23 and 7-15.
Game one was close in the early going as neither team could build a substantial lead. An 8-0 run by Jefferson put the Lady Bulldogs up 24-17 late in the game and Daingerfield was unable to recover as Jefferson took game one, 25-18.
Game two was another close affair but the Lady Tigers were able to find some separation in the early going. Daingerfield used three aces from Deandra Hanson and kills by Jettia Bradley and Alexis Porter to spark a 9-1 run that put the Lady Tigers up 16-7 halfway through the game. Jefferson rallied to tie the score at 18-18 and went to go up 24-22 before the Lady Tigers answered with four straight points to take game two 26-24. Two of the final four points came on an ace by Hanson and a kill by Janzelle Smith.
