Commissioners set budget at Aug. 27 meeting

The Morris County Commissioners are looking at increased revenue in all funds for its budget for 2013-14. The budget was approved at the commissioners Aug. 27 meeting. The revenue for all funds last year was $4,394,752 and this year was increased to $4,648,432.46. Expenditures were listed as $5,241,024.49 for last year and anticipated expenditures for this year are $5,514,664.43. The commissioners approved the 2013-14 tax rate as $.294625 per $100 valuation compared to last year’s tax rate of $.264825.
The commissioners voted to ratify the adopted 2013-14 budget that will raise more property taxes than last year’s budget by $87,520.46 or 3.5 percent. Of that amount, $18,586.06 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year with an adopted tax rate of $.294625 per $100 taxable value.
The commissioners approved the 3, 2, and 1 percent discounts for October, November, and December 2013 taxes.
