The Lady Mustangs had a great week on the volleyball court, sweeping 3A Pittsburg Tuesday before going 3-1 in their own tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Mustangs picked up a convincing win on the road at Pittsburg Tuesday, sweeping the Lady Pirates in three games, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-13.
The duo of Katherina Dietrich and Kayla Watkins was just too much for Pittsburg to handle as Watkins finished the game with 18 assists, three aces, two digs and a kill and Dietrich had 12 kills and four aces.
Game one was close in the early going, with the teams battling to a 15-15 tie before the Lady Mustangs used a 10-3 run to pull away for a 25-18 win. Dietrich had five of her 12 kills in the game-one win while Logan Wilson and Roach added aces and Roach and Gunn each had kills.
Dietrich continued to dominate in game two, adding seven more kills as Hughes Springs overcame an early 7-3 deficit to pick up a 25-14 win. Gunn, Halie Pippin and Kaycee Willis also added kills in the win.
