Live fire and sprinkler demonstration is planned

Avinger Volunteer Fire Department was chosen to conduct a live fire and sprinkler side-by-side educational demonstration by the national nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) to increase its home fire sprinkler education locally.
With funding through a contract with the United States Fire Administration (USFA), HFSC selected 25 fire departments nationwide that participate in the “Built for Life Fire Department” program to participate. “Built for Life Fire Departments” commit to making home fire sprinklers a focus of their educational efforts.
“We are privileged to participate in this program,” says Fire Chief Kyle Downs. “With the help of HFSC’s educational material, we can move forward with this important educational demonstration, which illustrates the danger of home fires and the life-saving benefits of home fire sprinklers.”
