The Lone Star City Council approved raising connection fees and transfer fees for water customers for the city. This action was taken at the Sept. 19 meeting of the council.
The council established a non-refundable connection fee of $50 to be paid when a new customer has water connected in the city of Lone Star. This fee will be in addition to the deposit the customer is required to pay.
The council also approved increasing the transfer fee a water customer must pay when having water disconnected at one location and connected at a new location within the same 10-day period from $10 to $50.
“We talked about this at the budget time as we are not capturing our costs right now,” Mayor Karl Stoermer said. “This is an attempt to raise it up a little.”
In his report, Mayor Stoermer said with the follow up grant to the $250,000 Byrne Street drainage grant, they hope to fix the drain at Byrne and Fannin streets.
