A Hughes Springs’ man was indicted by a Cass County Grand Jury on Aug. 23, on several charges, including aggravated assault of a public servant, according to Cass County District Attorney Clint aAllen.
“Gregory Darnell Godbolt, 31, of Hughes Springs, was indicted for burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony, taking a weapon from an officer, aggravated assault of a public servant, and robbery,” Mr. Allen said. “Mr. Godbolt was originally arrested on May 22 on a Class C misdemeanor public intoxication charge. He was given ‘time served’ and released on May 23. Upon his release, he proceeded to walk south on Highway 8 to the Spring Creek Apartments in Linden. As I understand it, he entered the manager’s office and demanded a ride to Hughes Springs. Allegedly, when the manager refused to give him a ride, he assaulted her and robbed her of her cell phone. It is further alleged that he then broke into a neighboring apartment and threatened the resident with a hammer.
