Rocky Stoermer of Lone Star was honored for his 47 years of service by the board of directors at the Northeast Texas Municipal Water District at the board’s Sept. 23 meeting.
As part of the recognition of his service, the board named a pump station after him. The pump station will be called “Rocky Stoermer Booster Pump Station.” It is located south of Lake O’ the Pines and is an integral part of the transmission line on the south side of Lake O’ the Pines.
The board approved goals and objectives for next year starting Oct. 1.
General Manager Walt Sears presented information to the board regarding the recent rain event.
“The heavy rain that we had increased the lake level approximately 7 inches,” Mr. Sears said. “The lake remains slightly more than 4 feet low. The volume that is in the lake today as a result of the rain is about 10,000 acre feet. This volume is more than the entire annual amount that all of the cities need for their water supply. We had a very plentiful rain event. The Army Corps of Engineers reports that slightly less than 6 inches fell at the dam at Lake O’ the Pines. There were reports of rainfall from 3½ inches to 8 inches.”
In other business, a contract was approved for water monitoring in the amount of $136,000.
