Daingerfield opens district with big win over Redwater

By Nick Counts

With 19 seconds left to go at Redwater Dragon Stadium, the Daingerfield Tigers defense was tired and getting worn down by a very tenacious Dragon offense.
The play was second down and goal to go from the three yard line, and the quarterback for the Dragons took a sneak through the gap between his guard and tackle in for the touchdown.
The Tiger defense was disappointed in the end, and did not want to give up those points.
Then the Daingerfield crew realized, after a knee from Keris Alexander, the Tigers walked off the field 26-7 winners of their first district outing on the season.
However, in Daingerfield a win may be a win, but a shutout is what the defense wanted.
The Daingerfield Tigers have had a rough road to take during the pre-district outings they have played. The hardwork paid off this week as they went into Redwater to take on the Dragons and started the “real season” on the right path with the win.
The Dragons were did not make this one a total cake walk for Big Blue and did that mostly by trying to keep the ball out of the powerful Daingerfield offensive hands.
Redwater ran a stiff between the tackle run game, that chewed up clock all throughout the game. The Tiger defense would step up when needed and kept the Dragons from getting on the scoreboard for 47 minutes and 41 seconds.
Daingerfield struck first with their own running game as Cordarius Anderson would pick his way down field on the first drive, picking up two first downs with an eight yard gain on third and two and a two yard gain on a fourth down short yardage situation.
