Cooking with diabetes class to be held
A four-part class series is being offered to anyone who has diabetes, prepares food for a diabetic, or simply wants to eat healthy, according to Cass County Extension Agent Pamela Lincoln. Classes will include a lesson, food demonstration, “show and tell,” and a sampling of food. Topics will cover carbohydrate foods, reducing sodium and increasing fiber, making recipes with fat better for you, and celebrating sensibly with diabetes. You will learn about breakfast food, holiday’s foods and foreign foods you can prepare.
Classes will be held in Linden and Hughes Springs on Oct. 23, Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and Nov.13. Linden classes will be from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. at the Linden Garden Center, 301 Houston St. in Hughes Springs’ classes will be from 3 p.m. through 5 p.m. at the Hughes Springs Community Center, 902 E. 1st St.
