Music City Texas Theater will celebrate the release of “Curtis Maloney & The Beagles”  on Oct. 26. This is the Linden native’s fourth album of original material.
“I grew up  listening to Hank Williams Jr. and Sr., George Jones, Merle Haggard, George Strait  and Alabama with my mamma, daddy and sisters,” Mr. Maloney said. “The great songs they sang motivated me to write music. I feel that the song is everything and truly the factor that makes any artist what they are.”
Mr. Maloney enjoyed the musical talent around Cass County and recalls spending time with Linden Lions Club Follies band members Paula Fitts, Greg Attaway, David Lovelace and John Early.
High School talent show performances by friends Ron Watson and Michael Sharp led to Mr. Maloney purchasing a Martin guitar one summer from H.T. (Scoot) Burrow. He recalls Scoot saying “Now Big Mo, take care of this guitar and go write some good country songs he called Three Chord Knockers.”
“Language arts teacher Mae Luster Stephens was also very influential as she taught me the basics of rhyme scheme and meter back in my days at Linden-Kildare Junior High,” Mr. Maloney said.”
