Training for first responders planned
First responders from all over the ATCOG region will be participating in an emergency response training exercise on Oct. 28 through 30. The ATCOG region encompasses the following counties: Bowie, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, and Titus.
The exercise will include several simulated incidents over the three day period including a mass casualty situation, a hazardous materials release, hospital operations, wilderness search and rescue operations, dive team operations, and emergency operations center activation and long-term operations. On Monday, October 28th, exercise activities will take place in Atlanta. Exercise activities planned for Tuesday, October 29th, will take place in Morris County as well as at each hospital throughout the region. On Wednesday, October 30th, exercise activities will be at various emergency operation centers throughout the region. All activities will conclude by noon on Wednesday and will be followed by an after-action review session in Mt. Pleasant to discuss all the events of the exercise.
Participating disciplines include emergency management, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and healthcare providers. Participating agencies include, but are not limited to, the following agencies: Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Forest Service, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Northeast Texas Regional Advisory Council serving Trauma Service Area F.
