Brandon Rhyder has established himself as a fixture in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene. The debut single, “Haggard,” from the Carthage native’s new album “That’s just Me,” scored the No. 1 position on the Texas Regional Radio Report in May, marking his fourth No. 1 single on Texas radio to date. “Pray The Night,” co-written with fellow Texan Wade Bowen, is currently climbing the charts.
Recorded in Dripping Springs, Mr. Rhyder’s eighth release is the first he has self-produced. “If you don’t recreate yourself you can get left behind,” Rhyder said, and credits the national recognition surrounding “That’s Just Me” to its honest, pure qualities.
One of the enduring aspects of Mr. Rhyder’s career has been his ability to share personal life experiences - particularly fatherhood - with fans through his music,” he said. “I write from inspiration and some obviously comes from my family. It gives me a really peaceful place to write. People like to be inspired and like to feel moved.”
“Freeze Frame Time,” about the anticipation of having kids, is one of his best-known songs. “Backroads” is another big song for him. Mr. Rhyder didn’t think many people would identify with it. “I’ve since learned it’s a worldwide sport,” he said.
