It took an extra game to decide the District 16-2A volleyball title last week as Hughes Springs and Queen City tied atop the standings at the end of the regular season.
The Lady Mustangs needed a win against Hooks in the final game of the regular season Tuesday to wrap up an outright district title, but Hughes Springs lost in five sets to the Lady Hornets. With the loss, Hughes Springs fell into a tie at the top of the district standings as both the Lady Mustangs and Queen City had a 12-2 district record.
The Lady Mustangs took the first two sets against the Lady Hornets, 25-20 and 25-18 and looked to be on their way to a district title. The Lady Hornets had other ideas, though, as they came back to win the final three sets 25-21, 25-22 and 15-8.
