Water board welcomes first female board member

The Northeast Texas Municipal Water District board of directors and General Manager Walt Sears welcomed the first female board member at the Oct. 28 meeting of the board.
Saundra Duke of Lone Star has taken the seat on the board that was vacated by the retirement of Uvalde “Rocky” Stoermer at the end of September. Mr. Stoermer served on the board more than 47 years as the representative for the city of Lone Star.
The low bid for installing a 750,000 gallon ground storage tank was approved by the board. DN Tanks Inc. had the low bid of $735,161. This ground storage tank will be installed in Daingerfield at the Carpenter Street location.
