Thanksgiving Service
Churches in Lone Star will gather for an annual Thanksgiving worship service, Sunday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Lone Star. There will be special music from people in various churches as well as a message from scripture. Following worship, there will be food and fellowship. The church is located at 818 N. Main (US 259) in Lone Star.
Breakfast With Rudolph
Breakfast with Rudolph will be Dec. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Daingerfield Public Library. Children will visit with Rudolph and enjoy a light breakfast. Bring your camera to take photos of your child with Rudolph. Call the Daingerfield Public Library at 903-645-2823 for more information.
Veteran’s Display
A new and special Veteran’s Day Display will be at the Hughes Springs Area Public Library during library hours from Nov. 12 through 25. This display will incorporate military items from the collection of Dr. Norman (Cheetah) and Deborah Traylor. Dr. and Mrs. Traylor graduated from Hughes Springs High School. He is the son of former Postmaster Billy and Betty Traylor and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Young, former owners of Young’s Grocery. Stop in at the library to see this unique collection of memorabilia including a Nazi flag along with a picture of the Nazi officer who surrendered it.
Holiday on First Street
Holiday on First Street will be held on Monday, Nov. 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown Hughes Springs. This event is held to kick off holiday shopping with local merchants.
Family and Friends Day
The Pine Bluff Baptist Church on Highway 250 will celebrate Family and Friends day on Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. The Rev. James Wall and the Shady Grove Baptist Church from Long Branch will be the special guests. The public is invited.
