Steve Williams, former science teacher, has been putting his knowledge to work in making his own recipe for salsa, entering it in the State Fair of Texas this year and capturing the first place blue ribbon. His wife, Marie Williams, received third place for strawberry jam.
The Williams of Daingerfield, have been making salsa, jams and pickles and entering them in county fairs and shows. This year was truly a blue ribbon year for them.
They garnered several ribbons this year at the Titus County Fair in Mount Pleasant.
The awards include Best of Show for strawberry jam; and four ribbons for Best of Class. The Best of Class ribbons were for spice nuts, strawberry jam, Kosher sticks, and sliced sweet peaches. First place ribbons included items such as sweet pickles, spice nuts, Kosher sticks, strawberry jam, and dill sticks.
Winners of the country fair during the 2013 Daingerfield Days Steel Country Festival have been announced.
