A Lone Star public works employee was arrested Nov. 20 and charged with theft of material, aluminum/copper/bronze/brass, according to Lone Star Police Chief Larry Fleet.
“Danny B. Harris, 47, of Lone Star was arrested and taken to the Morris County Jail,” Chief Fleet said. “We had reports going back to the last week in October that copper and air conditioner coils were being removed from the Lone Star Elementary School property. On Nov. 14 we captured two suspects on a video. The following day we were able to identify one of the two suspects from another incident. In this incident copper was being sold at Johns Iron and Metal.
“The suspect had the same type of shoes on that one of suspects at the school was wearing. This type of shoes is rare as far as everyday wear. Upon interviewing him, he admitted that he was the person in the video at the school on Nov. 14. He identified the second subject as Danny B. Harris who works at the public works department for the city of Lone Star. The suspect who provided the information did give other details to the incidents that indicated that Mr. Harris was involved in the thefts.”
