The resignation letter of Northeast Texas Community College board member Bill Priefert was accepted by the board of directors at its Dec. 12 meeting.
“Mr. Priefert has served our college faithfully for many years, and we are grateful to have benefitted from his leadership,” NTCC President Dr. Brad Johnson said. “In recent years he has been contemplating how his support of the college might evolve. He has decided this is the right time for him to shift his service away from the board and toward other ways he can help the college.  I have his strong assurance that he will continue to work with us for many more years, just in a different role.”
During Mr. Priefert’s tenure on the board, NTCC saw significant enrollment growth, the completion of several major construction projects, and a substantial increase in the college fund balance, according to Dr. Johnson.
Board member Sid Greer said he appreciated Mr. Priefert’s service on the board.
“Bill Priefert brought a unique perspective to the college board that spanned his business expertise and his many years of knowledge regarding economic development and agriculture,” Mr. Greer said. “He possessed a unique skill offering insight into maintenance and engineering issues that the board valued. It will be difficult to find a person with such talents to fill his seat on the board and I for one will miss his participation at each of our meetings.”
Even before serving on the board, Mr. Priefert was a major supporter of NTCC and the NTCC Priefert Rodeo Complex is named for his family.
