No injuries were reported in the vehicle or in the store when a toddler moved a car out of park and the car rolled into the Dollar General in Hughes Springs, according to Hughes Springs Chief of Police Randy Kennedy.
“We received a call from Cass County Sheriff’s Office about 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 10, that a vehicle had been driven into the building at the Dollar General on First Street,” Chief Kennedy said. “A 2005 Chevrolet Impala had crashed into the front doors knocking the doors out. There was also structural damage to the building.
“The children’s father was standing outside of the building trying to get the door open to the car, when I arrived on the scene. The 2-year old child had climbed from the back into the front and had knocked the transmission into drive, sending the vehicle rolling into the building. He was trying to get the child to unlock the door. There was an infant in the back seat that was unharmed.”
Chief Kennedy said neither child in the vehicle nor anyone in the store was injured.
