Mayor, city council positions open in local cities

If you would like to be more active and participate in your city government, Jan. 29 is the date for signups for positions in local cities for mayor and/or city council. Avinger will have no election this year.
Daingerfield Mayor Lou Irvin’s position is up this year, along with councils positions held by Martha Campbell and Lonnie Tucker.
In Hughes Springs the positions of council members expiring are Gene Ellison, Lee Newsom and Bill Jones.
The city of Lone Star has terms expiring of Earl Alexander, Jerri Chism and Martha Wexler.
Signups continue for city positions through Feb. 28. Election Day is May 10.
