Four States Agricultural Exposition and Conference set for Feb. 6

The Bowie County and Miller County, Ark. Extension offices will be hosting the 2014 Four States Agricultural Exposition and Conference on Thursday, Feb. 6.  The conference, held at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Ark. (3700 East 50th St.), is the largest gathering of farmers and ranchers in the four states area.
The conference begins with registration at 8 a.m. followed by concurrent sessions at 8:30. The conference will conclude around 3:30 p.m.  Lunch is provided to attendees.
Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) pesticide license holders (private, commercial, and non-commercial) will be able to earn up to 5 hours of continuing education credit toward the renewal of their pesticide license by attending sessions throughout the day.  Hours will be available this year in the General, Laws and Regulations, and Integrated Pest Management categories.  There is a $10 fee for all TDA pesticide license holders who wish to receive credit hours for attending the conference.
Arkansas residents will be able to attend their state’s required pesticide applicator training that afternoon.
Seminar topics for the day will focus on the following areas: horticulture, cattle and pasture, general agriculture, and row crops.
Lawn and garden related sessions include: diagnosing and treating lawn problems, pruning ornamental and landscape trees, low volume irrigations options for the garden and landscape, landscaping with water efficiency in mind, and collecting seeds in the garden.
