Did any of you ever have the frustration of trying to get your work done and things just were not going to cooperate, such as equipment and so on? Maybe it was the weather?
I had one of those days a week or so ago; in fact, almost two of them right in a row.  Newspapers have deadlines so it wasn’t too cool to be frustrated with equipment malfunctions, etc.
On the second day of this malfunctioning, half on, half off stuff, a young man stopped by and took a look at the problem. It wasn’t but a few minutes when he had diagnosed the problem and explained the solution. To my amazement, he promptly fixed the problem and all was well in newspaper land again. I was so thankful and so very, very impressed. It does give one pause to be grateful when someone goes out of their way to be nice and helpful. That doesn’t happen every day and I so appreciate this young man. He didn’t have to help; he could have said that usual reply so often heard now of ‘it’s not my job.’ Bless his heart, he did not.  I just cannot thank him enough for his kindness and generosity in helping.
We all lead such busy lives and taking on another task, especially one that isn’t really ours, is something most of us don’t readily do. Seeing this young man in action and how helpful he was, it made me think more about how we all should go out of our way a little bit now and then to help others.
