Daingerfield Junior High hosts math meet

The Daingerfield Junior High Math Team hosted a math-science competition for fifth through eighth graders.  Nine teams with about 180 students participated in the two divisions.  Queen City won the small school division followed by Atlanta in second and Hughes Springs in third.  The large school division was won by Foster in Longview, with Hallsville taking second place and Pine Tree in third.
Daingerfield Junior High and South Elementary had several students place in the top 10 of each of the four events.  They were:
Zach Gilmore, in seventh grade, placed fifth in Number Sense; sixth grade Justice Dorman placed third and Victor Gonzalez placed fourth; and fifth graders placing were Natalie Beasley in fifth, Laura Carter in sixth and Riley Scholl in eighth.
In Calculator, seventh graders placing include Hannah Welch at fifth, Zach at sixth, Justin Bailey at eighth and Jansen Laney at ninth. Sixth graders placing include Victor with first, Justice with second, Ryan Lewis with fifth, Hailey Byrd with sixth, Jamie Nix with eighth and Kiara Robinson with tenth. In fifth grade Natalie placed fourth and Riley placed eighth.
