The city of Daingerfield received a clean audit, according to information provided at the March 20 meeting of the Daingerfield City Council.
John Furlow reported that City Secretary Heide Edmonson continues to do an excellent job of tracing the city’s revenue and expenses.
“I want to express special thanks to Cynthia for helping with the myriad of office responsibilities as well as the collection and depositing of the water receipts,” City Manager Carl Teel said.
In his report, Mr. Teel commended on the downtown sidewalk project.
“Following last month’s meeting, I had a meeting with Brooke Droptini from Freese and Nichols, Inc. and Deanne Simmons from the Texas Department of Transportation about our concerns related to the timeline of our Downtown Enhancement Project,” Mr. Teel said. “I do want to make one clarification from my report last month.  Last month, I stated… ‘that TxDot no longer provides the required review of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) plans for ADA compliance.’ After visiting with Deanne and Brooke, I learned that TxDot was never scheduled to review the plans for ADA purposes.
“I should have stated that TDLR no longer reviews these plans internally and therefore we had to contract with an outside agency to review our plans for us.  We did comply with that by sending our plans to Texas Access and the review has been forwarded to Brooke.  Also, I asked Deanne to research the question as to whether the $1,130.00 fee that the city had to spend on getting a ‘Registered Architectural Specialist’(to review our plans was reimbursable by the grant.  The good news is that she believes it is reimbursable.”
Mr. Teel informed the council about plans to remove the rasied medians on Highway 11.
