Construction on the new elementary expansion at Hughes Springs Independent School District began March 18. The construction was discussed at the March 17 meeting of the board of trustees.
The board approved the maximum price on the elementary expansion as $865,000 for the six-classroom addition. Weiland – Davco is the construction manager, according to Superintendent Rick
Ogden.
“The money for the expansion will be paid for from fund balance monies,” Mr. Ogden said. “Construction is supposed to be completed by Aug. 1. We are adding a section each in kindergarten, first grade and second grade.”
In other business, new radios were approved for the buses. Deaton’s Communication from Winnsboro is the supplier at a cost of $11, 673.
“This will give all of our buses emergency call capabilities,” Mr. Ogden said. “These radios will be paid for with budgeted money.”
New mobile carts and projectors for the high school campus were approved.
