Daingerfield’s Math and Science Team captures second at State meet

The Daingerfield High School Math and Science Team took second place overall at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Math Meet held in San Antonio.  Led by Seniors Cassidy Shaver, Sam Fowler, Cedarion Hopkins, Courtney Davis and Lazariuz Luster, nine Daingerfield students tallied 2,062 points coming in second to Salado students who scored 2,300 points.
Daingerfield high school students won the State TMSCA Calculator team event for the second year in a row, with Sam taking first place and Cassidy taking second in the senior classification.  In the sophomore division, Cross Allen won State, with teammate Karter Ford only 1 point behind in second place.  Daingerfield students won the event by 68 points or 10 questions over second place, Ponder.
Daingerfield students took second in the team Number Sense event behind Salado.  Cassidy was Daingerfield’s top scorer with a tally of 215 points which was good for second place in the senior division.  Sam and Cedarion Hopkins took sixth and 12th respectively in that division also.  Karter finished second in the 10th grade division again, only one question behind the State champion Cody Damon of Caddo Mills.  Cross, also competing in the 10th grade division, finished in seventh place.   Freshman Zoey Crites took home 10th place in her division.
Daingerfield students placed fourth in the General Math competition with Cassidy taking fifth and Sam Fowler taking ninth in the senior division.  Cross and Karter finished 1 question apart in the sophomore division for third and fourth place respectively.
