Jeremiaha Clark was chosen to play in the Texas Round Up All-Star game held in Maypearl on March 15. Clark is a senior at Avinger High School.
The event selects some of the top basketball seniors – 24 boys and 24 girls – in the entire state for Class A, Class 2A and Class 3A.
Clark averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game for Avinger, which finished 26-3 after losing to Slidell – 71-65 in overtime – in the Area round of the playoffs.
Clark said he considered it an honor to be chosen to play in the Texas Round Up All-Star game.
“It was very exciting,” he said. “I met a lot of people, and we all got along well. We made jokes and talked about our basketball seasons. We practiced in the morning, and at lunch they took us to the Beaumont Ranch and fed us a barbecue lunch. I thought the meal was good, but the desserts were not good in my opinion.
“The coach who coached us had a great sense of humor and made the whole experience fun. My high school coach, Treston Dowell, said that he was proud of the way I played and represented Avinger. It was a wonderful experience, and I wish I could do it again.”
