Daingerfield Junior High students headed to state competition

The Daingerfield Junior High math team has nine students that qualified to attend the Texas Math-Science Coaches Association Middle School State Championship meet to be held in San Antonio on April 5.  To qualify, the students had to compete at the Ore City Middle School meet (Feb. 22), the Spring Hill Junior High meet (March 1) and the Regional meet at Queen City (March 8). At these meets, the students had to make a state qualifying score that was set by the TMSCA board of directors.   
 The nine students who qualified in 15 events were Justin Bailey—Calculator; Zach Gilmore—Number Sense, Calculator and Science; Justice Dorman—Number Sense, Calculator, General Math and Science’
Victor Gonzalez—Number Sense and Calculator; and Jansen Laney, Hannah Welch, Hailey Byrd, Ryan Lewis and Jamie Nix, all in Calculator.
 Regional Meet
In seventh grade Number Sense, Zach captured tenth place; in sixth grade, Justice won third place while Victor won seventh place.  
Hannah won seventh grade Calculator with third, Justin with sixth, Jansen with eighth, and Zach with ninth. Justice was the Regional Champion in Calculator, followed by Jamie with second place, Victor with third place, Ryan with fifth place, Hailey with ninth place and Nakeisha Robinson with tenth place.
