Super Hero 5K and Fun Run to be held April 12 in Mount Pleasant
Join the fun at the Sheltered Agencies for Families in East Texas and Court Appointed Special Advocates Super Hero 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, April 12, at Heritage Park in Mount Pleasant. This family-oriented event will include a 5K for ages 10 and up, a half-mile fun run for ages 6-9, a quarter-mile fun run for ages 3-5, and numerous children’s activities including face and hair painting and water tattoos. All events, including the 5K, are free. The first male and first female to complete the 5K will each receive a 9-inch Android tablet. The first male and first female child (6-9) to complete the half-mile race will each receive a 7-inch Android tablet. All children completing the quarter-mile race (3-5) will receive trophies and ribbons.
The Super Hero 5K and Fun Run is a community awareness project to promote National Crime Victims Rights’ Week, April 6-12, 2014. Everyone is affected by crime, either from a personal or community perspective. The NCVRW 2014 theme, 30 Years: Restoring the Balance of Justice, honors the extraordinary progress made on behalf of millions of victims since the passage of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) in 1984. The Super Hero 5K project is supported by a National Crime Victims’ Right Week Community Awareness Project subgrant awarded by the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators under a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice
