One of the many fund-raisers to keep the Hughes Springs Area Library open occurs during Wildflower Trails in April.
Jean Austin said there are rose bushes available to purchase April 22 through 26, with no sales after April 26.
“This will be the fifth year for the roses,” Mrs. Austin said. “There are 25 varieties of roses in both Knock Out and other hardy, disease resistant varieties in a wide range of colors from white to bright red with some variegated ones. We have 100 double-red Knock Outs ordered this year.
“The majority of the roses planted around town have been purchased from us.  The roses growing on the gazebo by the library, the ones at Gina’s Salon, the ones in front of the old Teel building are all from roses that the library has sold in previous years.  They are really beautiful. Prices are comparable to the retail prices in Tyler but we have made the trip for you.  Most will sell for $10.”
Mrs. Austin said the roses were ordered from Chamblee in Tyler last fall.
“We ordered last fall so they would have them ready for us during Wildflower Trails,” Mrs. Austin said. “The money we make from the sale of roses goes toward everyday operating expenses including utilities.
“You can come by the library now to reserve rose bushes for yourself or wait until the bushes are delivered.”
