Students place third in division; qualify for State competition

The Hughes Springs Junior High Math team competed at the Regional Math Meet in Queen City on March 8, and placed third in its division and had four more students qualify to go to the State meet in San Antonio.  The total students qualifying for State from the junior high group is now eight.  Sixth grader Jaycee Alexander qualified in General Math; seventh grader Dylan Williams qualified in Number Sense; and eighth graders Will Montgomery qualified in General Math and Nathan Tippitt qualified in Science. 
Other students captured top awards also.
Sixth grader Jaycee Alexander captured sixth place in General Math.
Seventh grader Calli Stewart took sixth place in Number Sense, 11th place in Calculator, fifth place in General Math and ninth place in Science.
