Mustang baseball ended the regular season with a 1-1 record on the week. The week started with a tilt against the Hwy. 11 rival in the Linden-Kildare Tigers. Dylan Moore took to the mound and was stellar with a 12 strikeout performance. Moore walked only one batter and surrendered only 4hits on the night, allowing the Mustang bats to secure a 4-2 win. Chad McKinney was the spark-plug again for the attack leading the way with a triple and a single in the win. Moore, Jacob Taylor and Blake Walker all singled as well as Hunter Smith, who also drove in a run.
Friday, the Mustangs again hit the road and took to the Queen City diamond and took on the Bulldogs. With Hughes Springs already having secured a first round playoff match-up, and Queen City still fighting for a spot in the post-season, the Bulldogs came out on top, 11-0. The Mustangs sent 3 different pitchers to the mound, and seemed to be gearing up for another deep run into the playoffs, by making sure everyone was sharp and saw action before Thursday’s match-up with Chapel Hill at NTCC near Mt. Pleasant.
