Track team moves on to Region championships

The Daingerfield Varsity Girls Track team competed in the Area Meet on April 17, in Tatum. As a team the girls finished fourth and qualified in six events to the Region III-2A Championships in Whitehouse.
 
Deandra Hanson placed first in the high jump with Jettia Bradley placing third. Hanson also placed fourth in the long jump.
 
The team of Chablis Barber, Denver Mims, Alexis Porter and Bradley placed fifth in the 400-meter relay. Shan Johnson placed third in the 100-meter hurdles.
 
The team of Hanson Mims, Porter and Bradley placed fourth in the 800-meter relay.
 
Hanson placed third in the 200-meter dash.
 
The team of Hanson, Porter, Bradley, and Sadie Bunton placed third in the 1,600 meter relays.
 
Barber placed fifth and Mims placed sixth in the 100-meter dash.
 
100m Dash: Chablis Barber placed fifth, Denver Mims placed sixth
 
Events and individuals qualifying to go to Regionals were as follows:
 
High Jump: Hanson and Bradley.
 
Long Jump: Hanson.
 
100-meter hurdles: Johnson
 
800-meter relay: Hanson, Mims, Porter and Bradley, and J. Smith and Kiana Hanson as alternates.
 
200-meter dash: Hanson.
 
1,600-meter relay: Hanson, Porter, Bradley and Bunton, and J.Smith and Alexius Williams as alternates.
 
100-meter dash: Barber as an alternate.
 
“I am so very proud of these young ladies,” Coach Dana Carter said.
