Early voting continues through May 6

Early voting for cities and schools began April 28 and will continue through May 6.
 
An election will be held for the city of Lone Star as eight people have signed up to run for three positions. The terms of Earl Alexander, Jerri Chism and Martha Wexler are expiring and all three incumbents have signed up to run for another term. Challengers include Bradley L. Harmon, James Barrett, Larry Jones, Elizabeth Kienzle and Keith Reiter.
 
The cities of Daingerfield and Hughes Springs will not have an election.
 
Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District will not have an election; however, Hughes Springs ISD and Northeast Texas Community College will have elections.
 
Hughes Springs has three places coming up for renewal/replacement. Those are Rick Nelson in Place 1, Clint Morgan in Place 2 and Billy Willis in Place 3. All three incumbents have filed to run again. Butch Reeves has also signed up for Place 1.
 
Filing for Place One, Place Two, Place Three, Place Five and Place Six on the Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees has ended with all incumbents signing up to run again.
 
Incumbents include John Bryan, Jerry Webster, Chuck Johns, Bill Ratliff and Robin Sharp. Challenger Lynda Tyler has signed up to run for Place One, which is held by Mr. Webster.
 
Early voting will begin April 28 and will end May 6. Early voting for Hughes Springs ISD will be held at Hughes Springs City Hall. Early voting for NTCC will be held at the Learning Center at the college Election Day is May 10.
