Success in Avinger with Wildflower Trails encourages early plans for the event next year. The Avinger Area Chamber of Commerce President Elaine Moulton invited the city council members and citizens in attendance at the April meeting to participate in early planning for Wildflower Trails for 2015. All organizations and citizens are welcome to make suggestions to enhance future success.

Among the events enjoyed this year were the Hickory Hill Baptist Church activities, the Avinger Parade, the Masonic barbecue, the Methodist Church homemade ice cream, the 1936 Study Club sale, and many other vendors.

The festival had a contest for photographs. The winners were Barbara McReynolds with first place, Norma Starling with second place and Patty Bogard with third place.

In the pet parade, the first place was awarded to Christy Parker for Bella, a rat terrier, second place to Audra Reid for Biscuit, a Yorkshire terrier, and third place to Taygen and Haylee Downs for Sally, a Chi Weenie.

Students of Avinger  schools entered drawings and graphic art. Kindergarten, first graders and sixth graders had several entries. Secondary students had entries using various media.

With early planning, the chamber anticipates even more events will be planned for Wildflower Trails 2015.
