Mustang band captures First Division Trophy

The Hughes Springs Junior high students in seventh and eighth grade band went to Canton on May 9 for the SoundPost Music Festival. They played two prepared pieces on stage for three judges.
“They played really well and brought home a First Division from every judge,” director Sarah Thompson said. We are so proud of them. This is our second year in a row to bring home a first division trophy.” Students are Kristen Meade, Mally Crawley, Jaycee Alexander, Jessica Chapman, Karlye Fahrney, Lacey White, Shelby Brock, Shelby Freeman, Zaida Lanier, Evelin Benavides, Brianna Page, Philip Campbell, Isabel Casillas, Chyanne Vaughan, Ana Pearson, Sarah Reynolds, Melissa McMichael, Maegan Ford, Bailey Sampson, Zoe Lanier, Cora Watts, Gustavo Soto, Chris Sims, Ty Waller, James Porter, Emma Fitzgerald, Rustin Crocker, Hallie Hall, Sarah Morris, Katy Hull, Dylan Williams, Carley Woodyard, Kaylee Schlagel, Winter Woodruff, Nacorey Lee, Zachary Blackwell, Noah Ragsdale, Khainyn Norris, Kayden Deaver, Alma Sanchez, Mandi Burkhalter, Trevor Noey, Mason Cowan, Savannah Elkins, CJ Sandefur, Calli Stewart, Heven Brock, Krystin Byler, Andrew Byrd, David Efurd, Malayah Everett and Jaden Williams.
