For the fourth year in a row, Derick Sibley, business manager at Hughes Springs Independent School District, has received the comptroller’s highest award. The designation is the comptroller’s newest and highest honor for financial transparency. The new distinction requires governmental entities go above and beyond providing financial transparency. An entity applying for the Platinum Leadership Circle must post detailed summary information on its website about existing bonded debt and how it will be paid off. General standards include posting check registers, budgets and local government contact information online. Hughes Springs ISD is one of only 51 of the state’s governmental entities that have been recognized with the Comptroller’s Platinum Leadership Circle.
