Rashad Lee, 31, of Daingerfield was found guilty of delivery of a controlled substance by a Morris County jury on June 18 in the 76th Judicial District of Morris County with Danny Woodson presiding. Mr. Lee was arrested March 21, 2012, according to Morris County District Attorney Steve Cowan who prosecuted the case. “The Department of Public Safety criminal investigations unit most people would call the state police, came in and put together undercover operation in Morris county targeting several known drug sales loca-tions, including Lee’s Compound on County Road 3108 a mile west of Daingerfield off Highway 49.

“As a result, several cases were made against Morris County residents selling narcotics. Rashad Lee, 31, of Daingerfield, was charged with delivering cocaine to an individual who was cooperating with state police. The state police did an excellent job of monitoring the purchase, both on audio and video. As a result, Rashad Lee was tried and convicted on a first degree felony delivery of a controlled substance case. His original charge would have been asecond degree felony, which carried a maximum punishment of 20 years but because of his bad prior record, both as a juvenile in which he was convicted of burglary, and placed on probation and later revoked for committing an aggravated assault. He had been sent to the Texas Youth Council boot camp as a juvenile and returned to Morris County to commit two thefts. He received a probated sentence in county court of the misdemeanor theft less than $500.
