Full name: Jackie D. Sikes.
I have lived in: Lone Star for over 30 years and now live in Jenkins.
Family: Chris Sikes, ShaRhonda Sikes, Crissy Sikes, Carley Sikes and granddaughter, Alexa Sikes.
Pets: Three pits, Dozer, Bella and Rustler; one Chihuahua, Tink and one goldfish.
Occupation: Nurse at Windsor Place Nursing Home.
One of the best things about my job is: Being part of an extended family.
My ideal vacation is: I would love to sit on a beach at sunset at least once.
My hero is: I have too many to count; I work around several nurses that put their needs above others daily starting with my mother.
My favorite TV show is: NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy.
My favorite healthy snack is: Sadly I do not eat enough healthy snacks to have a favorite.
A cause I most believe in is: It’s a tossup between Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.
If I could change one thing about East Texas, it would be: I am not sure I would change anything.
The person who has influenced my life most is: My mother because she was a single parent, a hard worker, good nurse and a selfless person. I would not be a nurse today if not for her.
The scariest thing that ever happened to me was: The day my brother was shot.
If I had to do it all over again, I’d: Live my life the same; I am who I am because of it.
The most exciting or dangerous thing I’ve ever done was: Learned to ride a motorcycle and loved it.
If I won a trip to anywhere, I would go to: Anywhere that has beaches and waterfalls.
I would have liked to participate in the historical event of: I love seeing the different shapes of the moon, so I guess the landing on the moon.
Two words that describe me are: Blessed and loyal.
Included on my bucket list are: Overcoming my fear of flying. I wish I had the courage to: Become a traveling nurse.
