It will soon be the start of a new school year, and parents are busy planning to get supplies and clothes for their children. The Hughes Springs Area Foundation will hold its seventh annual back-to-school clothing resale on Aug. 16 and 17. The sale will be held in the museum area of the public library from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
“All clothing items will sell for $1 donation each,” said Jean Austin, president of the foundation. “The foundation needs donations of good used clothing, especially jeans, shorts, tops, backpacks, etc. for students going back to school.”
Mrs. Austin said in the past few years the donations from the community have been overwhelming. “We have received a good response from the community,” she said. “I am so grateful for people who donate to help this project to help others.” Mrs. Austin said all items that were not sold were passed on. “It was worth it to see the smiles on the faces,” Mrs. Austin said. “It just melts my heart to see the children so happy.”
All money raised will go toward the utilities and supplies for the library. If you have items you would like to donate, you may drop them off at the library during regular hours. The library is looking for good used clothing, shoes, and backpacks.
