An East Texas woman was arrested July 17, for endangering a child, according to Lone Star Police Chief Larry Fleet.
“Kimberly Nichole Stephens, 30, was arrested by Lone Star officers for endangering a child, which is a state jail felony,” Chief Fleet said. “Ms. Stephens was tested by Child Protective Services three times for methamphetamines and she tested positive each time.
“A test was run on her 7-year-old daughter who tested negative and on her 5-month-old daughter. The test on the 5-month-old daughter tested positive. Child Protective Services removed the children from the residence and the case was forwarded to the Lone Star Police Department. A warrant was obtained for Ms. Stephens for endangering a child and she was taken into custody. She was placed in the Morris County Jail under a $4,000 bond.
” State jail felonies are punishable by 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a maximum fine of $10,000. State jail facilities are operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. State jail sentences are unique in that persons incarcerated in a state jail facility cannot be released early for good behavior.
